At the frontier between engineering, medicine and biology, the Laboratory for Biomaterials and Bioengineering of ULaval (LBB) tackles  to improve the clinical performances of medical devices for functional replacement, and to envisage the next generations of biomaterials to develop artificial organs enhancing the quality of the life of Humans. Working in close collaborations with clinicians and industrials in cardiac, peripheral, neurological, dental, and orthopedic surgery, the LBB research program aims i) to develop surface modifications processes for modulating the biological response, ii) to design new materials by design for temporary and pediatric implants, and to iii) design 3D physiologically-relevant in vitro models of the vascular wall made of human cells matured in bioreactors, for assessing new patient-specific drugs and medical devices.
